Psychotherapy provides a unique space to explore hidden feelings that can be difficult to express.
There can be times in our lives when it’s hard to make sense of how we are feeling. Having a space to be able to talk through painful issues in a safe environment helps to bring clarity and understanding to the causes as well as the symptoms of those problems and can lead you to a deeper understanding of yourself.
Integrative Psychotherapy with Sophie Munro
I am a registered psychotherapist and art therapist. I work in a relational and trauma-informed way that recognises how difficult experiences can shape us, often in ways we may not fully realise.
People come to therapy for many reasons, including anxiety, low self-esteem, depression, relationship difficulties, burnout, grief, trauma, or feeling stuck with the way things are. Therapy can help you understand both the symptoms you may be experiencing and the underlying causes, encouraging self-awareness and personal growth.
The foundation of all good therapy is the relationship between client and therapist. I aim to provide a safe, supportive space where you can express yourself openly and authentically. Through this collaborative process, we will explore patterns of behaviour that may no longer be working for you and develop ways of coping with both present and future challenges.
I use a range of approaches, including psychodynamic, humanistic and attachment-based therapies, as well as EMDR. This integrative way of working allows me to tailor the therapy to your individual needs.
As an art therapist, I offer creative ways to explore feelings that may be difficult to put into words. Art therapy can be particularly helpful when working with grief, significant loss, or facing a life-limiting illness. It provides a valuable space for emotions that may feel too complex, confusing, or overwhelming. There is no expectation of artistic skill.
I offer EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing), a well-researched approach that helps people process distressing or traumatic experiences. Many of us carry the impact of past events in how we feel, think, and respond in the present.
EMDR works by supporting the brain’s natural ability to process these experiences. A key part of the process involves maintaining a sense of safety in the present while gently engaging with past memories, using bilateral stimulation such as guided eye movements, tapping, or sound.
