Having dedicated several decades to embodiment, the process of learning to feel at home in one’s body, through my work as a dancer and more recently as a Somatic therapist, I bring with me a wealth of experience and sensitivity to work in a body-oriented way.

I am a Somatic Experiencing therapist and Certified Somatic Coach, I offer therapy & coaching for groups and individuals. I have more than twenty years experience as a classical dancer and dance teacher which has given me a wonderful preparation for working with people therapeutically in a playful creative way.

When we experience overwhelm or trauma we may be in a feedback loop of intolerably difficult sensations. Somatic therapy can be a wonderful way of introducing new felt experiences that can counter the difficult ones such as feelings of flow openness or neutral feelings. How often do we stop to ask:

Somatic therapy for artists and performers
Are you an artist/ performer who feels disconnected from play and creativity? When we listen and befriend the body it can lead us to hidden treasures in the form of images or intuitions or a sense of feeling empowered. When our life energy is released slowly from defending and looking after us it can be freed up for a life filled with what we want to be doing.
Somatic therapy for times of transition in life
You may be in a transition in your life and feel ungrounded, I can help you reconnect and find your own sense of direction. I have worked with clients who have spent many years in talking therapy and want to explore the body in their journey of healing and transformation.
What to expect in a Somatic therapy session
During a session I will guide you through seated and standing practices that will help you become more aware of your body’s sensations and help you get in touch with your inner landscape. Bringing awareness to what you’re experiencing in the moment and seeing where energy may be stuck within the body.
Becoming more in touch with our body’s internal sensations allows us to connect to a deeper wisdom and healing potential.
If you are interested in working with me or have any questions about the way I work, I offer a free 20-minute phone conversation to give us some time to connect. After the first exploratory session, we would agree on having between 6-12 weekly/bi-weekly sessions to start with.
My preferred way of working with clients is longer term work, as I have found this to add much more depth to the therapeutic alliance.
What is Somatic Experiencing Therapy?
Somatic Experiencing (SE) is a naturalistic pioneering body-based approach to overcoming stress and traumatic life experiences. By practising slowing down survival responses, getting in touch with sensations in the body and understanding the interconnectedness of body, mind, imagination and emotions, we can move from rigidity to flow. As survival defences stuck in the body get to complete and the bound energy is slowly released and integrated, we move towards embodying more of ourselves. SE is a wonderful approach when treating stress as it works with the natural physiology helping to restore balance throughout the nervous system. Clients report a renewed sense of vitality, confidence, and pleasure in being alive.
