“The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.”
― Carl R. Rogers
Are you feeling lost, lonely or disconnected from yourself and others?
Do you need help to understand who you are and the feelings you’re experiencing?
Or perhaps you’d like to gain perspective on something challenging that’s happening in your life and learn how to see things differently?
Whatever it is that’s bothering you, it’s often hard to know how to approach difficulties and even harder to talk to those closest to us. This is where therapy comes in – having somewhere safe to voice your concerns and feel less alone.
Integrative Counselling with Rhona Mercer
Sharing without judgement
My name is Rhona and I offer a warm, empathic, confidential space where you can share what’s on your mind without judgement or pressure. You may be having relationship problems and feel stuck or trapped, or maybe it’s hard for you to be honest with your partner or yourself about how you truly feel. Perhaps work is a huge source of stress to you and you don’t know where to turn. Or something unresolved from your childhood may be impacting the way you live your life today.
Sharing your thoughts and feelings in a safe environment will help you gain self-awareness and ultimately, self-acceptance. And as simple as it may sound, feeling understood, seen and heard is a huge part of the healing process.
How I work
In my practice, I will help you reflect on the issues you’re bringing to our sessions and support your understanding of what emerges. Each person is unique and there isn’t a one size fits all approach, but at the heart of my work is the relationship I have with you, the client, and building a good connection.
My therapeutic approach is integrative, which means I draw on different modalities and techniques that suit your personal circumstances and individual needs. I will look at how past experiences have shaped who you are today, and how your thought processes could be limiting your self-awareness and narrowing your perspective.

About me:
Before training as a therapist, I worked in the media and I have experience of asking the right questions and being an attentive, non judgemental listener. I’ve worked with people from all walks of life and backgrounds and I see clients with a diverse range of issues, including relationship problems, divorce, heartbreak, anxiety, loneliness, depression, parenting problems, low self-esteem, trauma, childhood neglect and loss.
I will help you to reflect on your situation and walk alongside you as we explore how you could see things from a different perspective. While counselling isn’t always about offering solutions, it is about helping you to understand yourself better and empowering you so that you can make positive changes in your life and see things differently.
Training and Qualifications:
I have an Advanced Postgraduate Diploma in Humanistic Integrative Counselling and I’ve completed training in therapeutic modalities such as humanistic, psychodynamic and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). I’m a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and work within the BACP ethical framework.
