Reasons for Considering individual Psychotherapy & Counselling with Nadine Dixon
Drawing on the expressive power of the arts and our imagination, I aim to create a compassionate and non-judgemental environment in which your inner world can gently unfold. My work is also informed by spirituality, offering an expanded lens for transformation and connection to what feels meaningful to you.
I work collaboratively and alongside you, honouring your unique way of walking in the world, and supporting you as you move towards greater insight, wellbeing, and a sense of wholeness.
Areas I work with:
Some of the areas I work with include, though are not limited to:
- Anger and strong emotions
- Anxiety, worries, fears, and panic
- Family relationships and friendships
- Grief, living losses, and bereavement
- Loneliness and finding connection
- Low mood and depression
- Joy and reconnecting with joy
- Relationship concerns
- Self-esteem, self-worth and confidence
- Feeling stressed, stuck, or overwhelmed
- Work-related stress and pressure
The way I work and therapies I offer
I offer both short- and long-term therapy for adults from my consulting rooms at Barnsbury Therapy Rooms, as well as online therapy via video, phone, email.
My intention is to nurture self-compassion, strengthen self-worth, and support emotional balance. My work is informed by a spiritual perspective, creating space for deeper reflection, meaning-making, and connection to your inner resources. I aim to support you in feeling calmer, less stressed, and more aligned with what gives your life purpose and direction.
Integrative Psychotherapy
I am a compassionate psychotherapist and am mindful to individually tailor a blend of therapy approaches to your needs. These approaches include drawing upon the therapy relationship, your strengths and beliefs, as well as offering a non-judgmental place to support a healthier sense of self, understand your feelings and to gain a sense of meaning in your life.
Arts Psychotherapy
Sometimes, words are not enough and as we go about our daily lives, we may not be aware how our thoughts, beliefs, emotions, and behaviours are affected by our past experiences.
Our memories can create self-limiting patterns in our relationships and our ways of being in the world. When working with arts psychotherapy (by using the language of physical sensations, art materials or creative writing) this can provide us with the potential for feelings and thoughts to be expressed and reflected upon together. It may be helpful to know that there is no need for you to have had any previous art experience or artistic skills to engage with expressive arts psychotherapy.
Bereavement Therapy
I have several years’ experience as a bereavement psychotherapist, which includes working within a well-known bereavement charity. In my private practice I provide a place for those who have experienced many different kinds of bereavements, to share and express thoughts and feelings.
Psychotherapy qualifications and training:
I am a UKCP registered integrative psychotherapist and HCPC registered art therapist and follow their standards of proficiency and abide by an ethical framework. I hold an MA in Integrative Arts Psychotherapy obtained at The Institute for Arts in Therapy and Education (IATE).
Other professional memberships include: Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy Institute (AEDP)
I also hold an understanding of, and weave into my approach, from the following teachings: Creative Clinical Supervision (London Centre for Psychodrama), End of Life Doula Introduction (student membership, End of Life Doula UK), Healing Breathwork Facilitator (The School of Prana), The Foundation of Shamanic Studies Europe (FSSE), and Soul Midwife training (Felicity Warner).
