Life is often complicated and the challenge to negotiate our lives can be more of a struggle when we are faced with anxiety, fear, sadness or depression.
When we are overwhelmed it is difficult to make sense of how we feel or how others feel about us.
I offer therapy that supports you to make sense of your thoughts and feelings and to meet life’s challenges in a productive and creative way.
A creative approach in psychotherapy can help you look at problems from different angles, which will help you gain more confidence about who you are and re-evaluate what is important in your life.
Therapy with Marrianne Behm
I believe the role of therapy is to provide a space for people to reconnect not just with health but with getting pleasure out of life and that we all have an inherent human creative capacity to effect change.
I am an experienced art psychotherapist, who brings compassion, energy, and sensitivity to the therapeutic relationship.
Art Psychotherapy combines talking therapy and a space to discuss what may be troubling you with the possibility to engage in a creative approach. When coping with life’s stresses we can feel lost for words or over think things, making our thoughts confusing and overwhelming. In my experience, this is where the use of creative tools for example postcards, objects, drawing, visualisation, mindfulness, breathing and body awareness can be invaluable to enable you to step outside and gain a perspective on your problems.
You don’t need to have any experience of art or think of yourself as particularly creative to use these approaches and some clients prefer to stay with talking to explore their difficulties.
I have 25 years experience as a clinician, supervisor and manager in psychological therapy services in the NHS and private practice. Working both with groups and individuals. As well as 12 years experience as a lecturer and tutor on an integrative arts psychotherapy training.
