Yoga one-to-one classes and small groups in Islington
I teach Hatha Yoga individual classes at Barnsbury Therapy Rooms, Hatha is gentle, subtle practice, working with the body’s natural function rather than striving to attain the perfect posture.
My approach is influenced by the work of Vanda Scaravelli who taught that release in the body can be found by attention to how we respond to gravity, and how we breathe as we move. With these core principals of ‘”grounding and breathing,” we learn about where we hold ourselves, where we can release and how to find a balance between the two.
How I work:
Working one to one can be useful if you want some extra support in your practice, if you are dealing with an injury or illness, or if you’re new to the practice. Yoga is particularly beneficial if you have a specific issue with hip, knee, shoulder or back pain, or other postural /breathing constraints. We tailor an individual practice programme for you and work together on it over a succession of weeks.
Individual session last 75 minutes. A minimum course of 6 classes is suggested.
My Background and Training:
I was a professional dancer, came to yoga 25 years ago, and have been teaching since 2007. My training was with LYTTG who focus on Scaravelli -influenced yoga as introduced in this country by Mary Stewart. My teachers include: Catherine James, Chloe Fremantle, Giovanni Felicioni, Lisa Mc Rory and Peter Blackaby. I recently began work training other teachers, on LYTTG and “Calm for Kids” training courses.
I have been part of a meditation community at Meditatio Centre, for 10 years, where I run regular classes and workshops. British Wheel of Yoga accredited.
