There are many reasons why you may be seeking therapy at the moment. It may be that you are struggling to deal with a particular issue in your life – whether a present issue or an issue from the past – or it may be that you would like a better understanding of yourself and the way you approach situations or relate to others.
Whatever the reason, my aim, through working in a non-judgemental, collaborative and conversational way, is to build a trusting relationship with you through which we can explore those issues.
I am a qualified Integrative psychotherapist who incorporates different techniques and approaches in my practice and I, therefore, tailor the therapy and the sessions to your particular needs.
Psychotherapy with Henrietta Nurney
I believe that relationships – both your relationship with yourself and also with others – are central in life.
Without always realising it, we can easily fall into patterns of behaviour which have a negative impact on us and which can prevent us from being who we are or who we want to be and also prevent us from relating to others in the way we would like.
During our sessions, we will discuss your feelings, emotions and concerns. As part of this, we may look at your past and explore your thoughts and feelings around particular events.
By working in this way, we will begin to understand your thoughts and reactions and their origins. This can provide clarity and acceptance of issues and certain situations and it can also lead to you making positive changes in your life and achieving your full potential.
Before training to become a psychotherapist, I was a solicitor and, subsequently, a partner in the City for 12 years.
My background means that I understand not only how hard it can be working in a professional firm, but also the huge and constant pressure on individuals caused by such challenging work environments and the dynamics that go with them.
Therapy is a personal endeavour and the type and length of therapy that may help, varies from one individual to another. As such, we can work together on either a short term or long term basis.
It is essential that you feel able to talk freely and openly in therapy. As a result, what we discuss in your sessions will always remain strictly confidential.
