Psychotherapy with Chantal Snarey
What can I discuss in therapy?
Therapy clients work with me for a multitude of reasons, I am open to helping you work through whatever you bring to the therapy sessions. However, there are some areas that I feel particularly drawn to working with:
Professional & working life emotional challenges and issues
I have a past career background of working in the Banking sector in the City. I am aware, from my own perspective, how things such as imposter syndrome, company politics, demands to hit targets, and stress can affect our mental wellbeing. It can be helpful to talk to a therapist who knows what it is like to work in your professional setting and understands the demands of a hectic and all-absorbing city career.
Bereavement & grief and coping with the emotions of feeling a loss
As a therapy client 20 years ago, I found myself whilst navigating my way through a bereavement and a divorce. I know how daunting it can be to take that first step. I also know how taking that ‘step’ of Therapy can be so enlightening and allow you to live a more fulfilling life.
Infertility and the emotions of coping with IVF treatment
I have personal experience of infertility, and can understand the significant impact, IVF and other fertility treatments can have on a person’s mental wellbeing. We can talk through the challenges you are facing with your emotions, the treatment and even the impact on your relationships with partners, family and colleagues. The stress and anxiety around the treatment cycles, the emotions around the hopes of success and the possibility of failure to conceive.
Eating disorders and emotional overeating
I have worked with a number of clients struggling with an eating disorder or poor relationship with food and diets. Together we collaborate and use ‘Person-centred’ theory to work through the thoughts and feelings that you are having to help you to understand yourself at a much deeper level. Like other issues such as anxiety, these thoughts and feelings can all be part of a larger picture of what is going on for you. Together we can piece together what could be at the root of these symptoms.
Teenagers and young adults – coping with the emotional challenges of adolescents
I have worked with Teenagers and Young adults and have helped them to make sense of their feelings which can, at times, be overwhelming. Adolescents can find talking with me helpful if they are finding it hard to discuss these feelings with their peers or parents.
Therapy can give teenagers and young adults a safe, non-judgemental space and provide some tools to help them cope. Areas I have experience in are eating disorders, anxiety, identity issues, relationship issues, self-image, exam pressure, social anxiety and the effects of social media and low self-esteem.
How I work in therapy
I offer Face to face or Online Therapy to suit my client’s needs whether this is short or long term.
